Comcast Cares Day was a huge success with over 50 people coming out to replace mulch at LLC and prepare the playground for a warm, busy summer.
Volunteers from Fannie Mae came out during their 7 Days to SERVE and took a different class each day from LLC on a field trip, completed landscaping projects with CHC, and cleaned and organized donations at ERCS. No job too big or too small!
Girl Scout Troop 231 has begun coming to ASAPP once a month to repackage large donations of dry goods and stock shelves.
The Herndon Fortnightly Club collected books for the Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center book fair.
The Flint Hill School sent students to LLC to read to the preschool classes and to ASAPP to pack for the May Brown Bag Delivery Routes.
Potomac School volunteered for weekly service during the school year and sent out a great team of volunteers for their day of service. High school students came to ERCS to clean up the grounds and provided the LLC staff with extra support.
The 2015 Reston Farmer’s Market & SNAP-at-Market volunteers have started and this season at the Lake Anne Farmer’s Market is already a busy one! Through the volunteers commitment to come each week ASAPP is able to offer fresh produce to clients, and process SNAP payments for the Farmer’s Market Vendors.
Thompson Hospitality provided delicious food from American Tap Room, and friendly staff for our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic.
The Reston and Oak Hill USPS staff collected over 9,000 lbs of food during their Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive which helped to stock the shelves of ASAPP with much needed items like canned meats, rice, and cereal.
