Programs and Services

Housing Services

  • If you need a safe place to stay, Embry Rucker Community Shelter (ERCS) provides emergency shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness. The 75-bed shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provides a safe, welcoming place to stay, along with nutritious meals and connections to medical care and other supportive services.

  • Our Housing Counseling program offers confidential, face-to-face support from a HUD-certified counselor who can help you understand your options and explore steps to prevent foreclosure.

  • Facing eviction or struggling to keep up with your rent or mortgage? We can provide guidance, resources, and financial assistance to help you understand your options, address your housing situation, and work toward keeping your home.

Food Assistance

  • Cornerstones’ Assistance Services and Pantry Program (ASAPP) is the largest food pantry in northwest Fairfax County that is open on weekdays and one Saturday morning a month.

  • Shop for fresh, healthy food at the Reston Farmers Market on Saturday mornings during farmers market season using your SNAP/EBT benefits. Through SNAP at Market, your SNAP dollars may be matched through seasonal incentives, helping you stretch your benefits further and bring home more fresh fruits and vegetables for you and your family. Stop by the Cornerstones table for assistance.

  • Need help getting groceries? Food deliveries are available to seniors and residents of local low-income housing communities, helping ensure that fresh, nutritious food is accessible to those who may have difficulty getting to a food distribution site.

  • At Cornerstones Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center we can connect you with resources to help you move toward greater stability through a variety of onsite programs and services and referrals to other resources.

  • You can help make your community stronger. Opportunity Neighborhoods brings residents, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders together to create positive change for children, families, and neighborhoods across Fairfax County.

    Through RestON and ON Herndon, community members can connect with neighbors, share ideas, support local initiatives, and help identify and address the issues that matter most in their communities. Whether you’re looking to volunteer, build connections, share your expertise, or simply get more involved, there’s a place for you to participate.

  • If you live in one of our Community Connected Sites, you have access to a range of resources, programs, and support designed to help you and your family thrive.

    Each site has a Connections Center staffed by a Program Coordinator/Advocate who can help connect you with resources, answer questions, and support you in reaching your goals. You’ll also find opportunities to learn new skills, connect with your neighbors, participate in community events, and share ideas about how to make your community stronger.
