35th Annual Capitol Steps Performance

A sold-out crowd of more than 600 guests filled the ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Reston on January 21st for the 35th Annual Capitol Steps Benefit Performance. This community tradition of gathering together for a hilarious evening of political satire is all for an important cause – to help families in the Embry Rucker Community Shelter who have no place to call home. The event raised $340,614, which was presented to Cornerstones by event co-chairs, Susie Sylvester Duggal and Liz Gavin Pao, to help meet critical needs of those in the shelter as they progress toward permanent housing.

“This is a remarkable outcome, and so needed to provide members of our community with concrete answers, safety, stability and welcome that Cornerstones provided to more than 16,000 men, women and children last year,” said Kerrie Wilson, Cornerstones’ CEO. “Once again, the community has come through – at a time when there is deep need – to reaffirm the values that we have in common. To say yes, we can help, and you are welcome here.”
